Laparoscopy

Laparoscopy is a procedure a doctor uses to look inside the abdomen (belly) and pelvis. This is done with a laparoscope, a thin, flexible tube with a light and a small video camera on the end.

The tube is put in a small cut made through the abdominal wall near the navel (belly button). A second or third incision may also be made in other parts of the belly to put in other instruments. Laparoscopy is also known as minimally invasive surgery or keyhole surgery.

Healthcare for every budget

One price, no hidden fees

In Urology we use this technique for several procedures, like:

Nephrectomy

Laparoscopic Nephrectomy provides patients with a safe and effective way to remove a sickly or malignant kidney. Laparoscopic nephrectomy is performed under a general anesthesia and normally has a length of 3-4 hours. It is performed through 3 small (1/2 in) incisions in the abdomen.

Adrenalectomy

Sharing many similarities to Laparoscopic nephrectomy, this minimally invasive surgical approach has almost replaced the open adrenalectomy in the management of small and medium-sized adrenal lesions.

Prostatectomy

Laparoscopic prostatectomy is a minimally invasive surgery procedure used to remove a patient's cancerous prostate. The procedure takes approximately 3 hours to perform, and is done through 5 small incisions, instead of one large incision.

Ureteral Reimplantation

Laparoscopic Urethral Reimplantation is a minimally invasive procedure that is used to reposition a ureter (small tube between the kidney and the bladder). It allows urine to pass to the bladder. It is performed through 4 small incisions in the abdomen.

Pyeloplasty

Laparoscopic Pyeloplasty is the surgical reconstruction of the Renal pelvis (a funnel-like part of the ureter in the kidney) to relieve pressure created by a narrowing in this structure. This obstruction causes the kidney to enlarge and not function correctly. The surgeon will make 4 abdominal incisions and has been proven better than other techniques.
